Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate
Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is a combination of Lean and Six Sigma. Traditional Six Sigma has focused on the reduction of variation. Lean is the removal of waste.
Together they provide process improvement focused on customers and achieving business process improvements. When combining these two practices, a powerful continuous improvement process delivers great results.
This dynamic certificate program features simulations, practical knowledge, hands-on learning, a project, and a presentation. This six-day course meets for five days of training and one day of presentations.
Course Objectives
Learn LSS philosophy and methodology (DMAIC)
Obtain knowledge of the most common Lean and Six Sigma tools

This certificate requires individuals to attend all training, pass an assessment, work on a project (as a team), deliver results on the project, and present the project.

The Instructors
Ronald W. Duck is recognized worldwide as an advocate for business process simplification. He has spent 34 years developing and implementing QA programs on a wide range for NASA, DoE, DoD, and numerous Fortune 500 companies. Specifically, he has developed, implemented, maintained corporate and project QA programs which resulted in AlliedSignal winning the Hammer Award in 1996 from V.P. Al Gore for cutting waste in government by assisting NASA in achieving ISO 9001
3rd Party Certification of their 1st site at White Sands Test Facility. Duck was also a key member of Team Xerox that resulted in Xerox winning the Malcolm Baldridge Award in 1989. His experience includes directing Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001 within major corporations and their supplier bases. Accomplishments include development/delivery and hands-on implementation at more than 1,000 clients and ISO 9001 Certification of 42 companies.
Ric Van Der Linden is the principal consultant for ProgressivEdge, a San Diego-based consulting business focused on the applications of continuous improvement techniques to any business type. As a champion of Lean and Six Sigma, he has developed Lean strategies and Six Sigma programs that have become best practice. He has trained, mentored, and certified Six Sigma/Lean individuals that have resulted in a three-year accumulation of $20 million savings. He has a B.S.
in manufacturing engineering, a master’s in organizational management, is a certified Lean expert, and master black belt in Six Sigma. He is the president of the San Diego Chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers and is a Lean and Six Sigma instructor at San Diego State University.
