The JASON Project

The JASON Project siteWelcome to the SDSU College of Extended Studies/The JASON Project online credit registration information page. This page features information about upcoming JASON Project courses and registration information.

Courses approved for ED X997 credit are fully reviewed and approved by the faculty of the College of Education. These graduate level courses offered through the College of Extended Studies are designed to meet the needs of educators who wish to develop or continue the study of a current topic. Courses numbered at the 900 level are not designed to be applicable to graduate programs at SDSU but like all transferable credit may, with approval from the receiving institution, be applicable to degrees at that institution.

Registration requirements:

  • Credit enrollment is limited to JASON Project participants only.
  • Register and pay for the course with The JASON Project. You may call (888) 527-6600 or visit the The JASON Project to register.
  • Register with SDSU for the ED X997 credit. This is a separate registration transaction. See SDSU credit registration information below.
  • Complete all academic requirements established by The JASON Project.

Grades and Transcripts
Official transcripts of course work taken at San Diego State University may be ordered through the SDSU WebPortal. You will need to know your SDSU RED ID number to use WebPortal. Additional information about transcripts may be found at http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/registrar/transcripts.html. Please note: Before ordering official transcripts view your unofficial transcripts to make sure all of your grades have been posted.

Refunds/Withdrawals
Refunds are based on tuition costs only. ASB/Union fees are not refundable after a class has begun. All refunds for credit courses are subject to a $17 administrative charge. Refunds are not automatic. No refunds are due unless the course is officially dropped within stated guidelines in the refund schedule.

Online Course Aquatic Ecology
This course leads teachers to investigate principles of ecology through examples from fresh water, marine, and other water environments. Content includes interactions among living organisms, energy flow within and among living communities, dynamics of adaptive evolution, and survival strategies. Online Course Chemistry through Inquiry
The course focuses on the National Science Education content standards for physical science and "science as inquiry" for K-4 and 5-8. As teachers do hands-on science investigations, read science background, and participate in discussion they will enhance their own science content knowledge and develop an inquiry-based approach to science teaching. Online Course Electricity and Magnetism
Workshop for middle school teachers. Topics will include the misconceptions of electrostatic charging, charge separation and its role in voltage generation, current electricity and the circuits through which it flows, concepts including Ohm's Law, schematic diagrams, and current that flows from wall outlets, and the intimate relationship between magnetism and electricity. Online Course Monster Storms: Meteorology and Methods for Teachers
This course provides a concise introduction to meteorology content for middle and secondary teachers. It also covers methods by which the content can be introduced to students in a constructivist manner. Teachers explore the science, technology and societal implications of storms in the 21st century.
