Meeting & Event Planning November Courses

meeting and event planningWhether you are new to meeting planning or a seasoned pro, SDSU’s Meeting and Event Planning Certificate offers an opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills within this growing industry. SDSU’s College of Extended Studies will offer five courses in this exciting field that begin in November.

Courses include:

Food & Beverage Planning, Tuesday, Nov. 1 and Thursday, Nov. 3, 6-9 pm

This course will explain policies and guarantees, as well as provide formulas for order pricing, tips on menu planning, and how to plan for special menus and theme parties.

Sponsorships and Fundraising — Nonprofit Event Planning, Saturday, Nov. 5, 9 am-4 pm

Topics covered include: creating unique events, complementing an organization’s mission and development plan, setting budgets and timelines, generating multiple revenue streams, designing and selling corporate sponsorships, and obtaining free public relations.

Financial Management of Meetings and Events, Tuesdays, Nov. 15-22, 6-9 pm

The class teaches you the management tools necessary to minimize the chances of cost overruns and eliminates surprises that affect your bottom line.

Event Design and Production, Saturday, Nov. 19, 9 am-4 pm

This course is an introductory but comprehensive overview of the conceptual and creative applications of design as they apply to modern experiential meetings and special events.

Professional Development, Tuesdays, Nov. 29-Dec. 6, 6-9 pm

The class will help you decide where to take your career, and create an attainable plan for getting there; you will be challenged with making the right career moves, or knowing when to move at all.
