Common Core Standards and Assessment
Schools throughout the nation face a new challenge of transitioning to Common Core State Standards. In addition, educators now realize how important it is to integrate 21st century skills into every classroom. How do you align current curriculum with these new initiatives? What assessments will best monitor student progress and engage them in the learning process? How do you implement equitable, defensible grading practices that make sense to students and parents? Most important, how do you accomplish this while maintaining quality instruction and your sanity? For answers to all these questions and more, this is the conference to attend! You'll have time to explore, network, and discover new tools for practical assessment strategies.
In addition to attendance and participation in the entire course, each student will submit a three- to five-page paper (double-spaced, 650-word minimum) synthesizing the various experiences that took place during this course. Describe the best concepts or practices that you learned and how you will integrate or apply them in your work.
This assignment is due by 5/2/12. Please include a cover page with your name, contact information, schedule number, and course title.
You may submit this paper via email, postal mail, or fax to: Jennifer Barrett, program coordinator, San Diego State University, College of Extended Studies, 5250 Campanile Drive, Room 2503, San Diego, CA 92182-1920; firstname.lastname@example.org; Fax: (619) 594-8566.
