SDSU Hosts Open House for Individuals 50 Years and Better

SAN DIEGO, Thursday, December 6, 2007 - San Diego State University's College of Extended Studies (CES) will host an open house for its Osher Lifelong Learning Institute program, which offers university-quality courses for individuals 50 years of age and better, from 10 am-noon Saturday, January 26 at the Extended Studies Center.

Prospective students will be able to preview spring classes, meet with instructors, mingle with other students and staff, enjoy refreshments, and tour the new Extended Studies Center facility.

The Osher Institute offers adults 50 and better a chance to return to campus and study a fascinating array of topics from political science to art history, literature to astronomy. The institute puts students in a state-of- the-art classroom with curious fellow learners and outstanding instructors including SDSU faculty, award-winning authors and artists, and professionals with recognized excellence in their field.

Credit is not given in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute courses, and no tests or papers are required.

This is a SDSU Research Foundation program managed by SDSU's College of Extended Studies.

SDSU's College of Extended Studies offers a wide variety of lifelong learning classes, seminars, and certificate programs. Career advancement courses are offered in many areas of management, leadership, and quality improvement while self-enrichment courses range from astronomy to web design. Additionally, the College offers more than 35 certificate programs, online courses, workforce development courses approved for tuition remission through the Workforce Investment Act, and many other learning opportunities.
