SDSU Study Skills Program Helps Students
Entering High School, College
SAN DIEGO, Thursday, May 17, 2007 - San Diego State University's
College of Extended Studies is offering the Practical Academic Study
Skills (PASS) Program for students entering high school or college
desiring to learn how to achieve academic success. The PASS program
will provide students with the study skills needed to succeed in
the classroom and be better prepared for each education level.
Skills taught in the program include note-taking and outlining,
test-taking strategies, problem-solving, time management, memorization
techniques, listening skills, critical thinking, and reading strategies.
Faculty members from SDSU have developed the curriculum and teach
the course.
The PASS program for students entering high school takes place
Monday-Friday, July 23-27, 8-10 am at Steele Canyon High School;
Monday-Friday, July 30-August 3, 7:30-9:30 am at Grossmont High
School; and Monday-Friday, August 13-17, 8-10 am at the SDSU Extended
Studies/Gateway Centers. The program for students entering college
is Monday-Friday, August 13-17, 10:30 am-12:30 pm at the SDSU Extended
Studies/Gateway Centers.
Cost for the weeklong course is $139, up until five days before
each respective course's starting date. After those dates, the cost
is $159.
