CES Courses Help in Pursuit of Your Technical Career

SAN DIEGO, Wednesday, April 25, 2007 - Education is the key to success as you build your resume to enter into the highly competitive and lucrative area of technical writing and programming employment.

San Diego State University's College of Extended Studies offers several courses to help you in your pursuit of a technical career.

In Fundamentals of Technical Writing, you will be taught how to translate complex information into easily understood language, and how to become a wizard at marrying the art of publishing with the science of technology. You'll learn the secrets of successful technical writers, including technical writing conventions, interviewing skills, desktop publishing and formatting techniques, key tips for developing graphics and templates, documentation management, and how to publish documents both on paper and electronically.

Requirements include Internet access, email, Netscape or Internet Explorer web browser.

The College of Extended Studies also offers world-class, hands-on, Accredited IT Technical Training through a unique relationship with Global Knowledge.

San Diego State University has reviewed and approved over 60 of Global Knowledge's most popular courses for this program. This approval extends to the Classroom Learning, Virtual Classroom e-Learning, and Self-Paced e-Learning modalities. Successful completion of the course provides college credit from SDSU.

In C# Programming for the Absolute Beginner online course, you will learn the fundamentals of computer programming with C#, a programming language that incorporates the best features of Visual Basic, C++, and Java. You'll first develop your understanding of programming fundamentals: input/output operations, decision-making, and looping. Then, you'll explore the many benefits of object oriented programming, with plenty of vivid, real-life examples.

You also will gain hands-on experience with sequential data files, and be able to build a professional-looking and intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) application on your very own computer. Because there is no better way to learn programming than hands-on practice, almost every lesson includes practical examples and assignments you can use to develop your knowledge of programming.

In the Creating Web Pages online course, you will create and post your Web site on the Internet in this extensive, hands-on, six-week workshop. First, you'll learn about the capabilities of the World Wide Web and the fundamentals of web design. Then, with your instructor's patient guidance, you'll plan the content, structure, and layout of your web site, create pages full of neatly formatted text, build links between the pages and to the outside world, and add color, backgrounds, graphics, tables, hot buttons, and animation. You'll also learn critical and timely information on securing the best possible location in search engine listings, and powerful no-cost or low-cost web marketing strategies.

SDSU's College of Extended Studies offers a wide variety of lifelong learning classes, seminars, and certificate programs. Career advancement courses are offered in many areas of management, leadership, and quality improvement while self-enrichment courses range from astronomy to web design. Additionally, the College offers over 35 certificate programs, online courses, and many other learning opportunities.
