SDSU Writers' Conference Set for January
26-28
SAN DIEGO, Thursday, January 4, 2007 - The 23rd annual San Diego
State University Writers' Conference will take place Friday, January
26-Sunday, January 28 at the Doubletree Hotel in Mission Valley.
The conference is one of the largest of its kind on the West Coast
and will include one-on-one consultations and hands-on editing assistance.
Participants will learn ways to sharpen their writing skills and
make connections with editors and agents of fiction, nonfiction,
screenwriting, and children's books.
Marjorie Hart of La Mesa discovered just what can result from the
SDSU Writers' Conference at the 2006 event. She met Jennifer Pooley
of William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, leading
Hart to contract with Pooley's company to write a book on her 1945
adventure in New York City titled Summer
at Tiffany. The book will go on sale April 3.
This year's conference will offer participants workshops on fiction
and nonfiction. Industry experts will be on hand to discuss how
to produce screenplays from inception to finished product and how
to attract the necessary attention to get them produced.
Top editors, agents, and industry professionals will be available
to meet one-on-one to critique writing and offer specific advice
about how to take a project forward. There will be many networking
opportunities, including a no-host mixer and a networking lunch,
to make connections with editors, agents and fellow writers.
Registration is still available. The fee to attend the conference
is $399. To register or for more information, call (619) 594-2517
or visit www.NeverStopLearning.net/writers.
The conference takes place from 6:30-8:30 pm Friday, January 26;
8:30 am-5 pm Saturday, January 27; and 9 am-3:20 pm Sunday, January
28.
