SDSU offers six-week summer course in the
Philippines
SAN DIEGO, Thursday, March 24, 2005 - San Diego State University's
College of Extended Studies, in collaboration with the Department
of Pacific Asian Studies, is hosting a six-week summer session from
June 10 to July 25 in the Philippines.
The program provides six units of coursework at the University
of the Philippines (UP) with both U.S. and Philippine professors
teaching the classes. UP is the oldest state university in the Philippines.
Tagalog language training and a series of field trips designed
to introduce students to all facets of Filipino life will complement
classroom instruction. Although classes will be conducted in English,
students who wish to develop some skill in Filipino language will
be encouraged to attend a 20-hour conversational Tagalog class.
Cost per student is approximately $4,500 and includes full SDSU
tuition; fees in the Philippines for 90 hours topical instruction;
shared accommodations; all breakfasts; some lunches and dinners;
group airport transfers in the Philippines; one or two weekend trips
including travel, accommodation and meals; and admission fees to
