Course Focuses on Most Effective Ways to
Plant a Garden
SAN DIEGO, Wednesday, October 13, 2004 - Tired of seeing the cost
of watering your lawn go up? Want to attract more birds and insects
to your garden? Feeling bad about constantly applying herbicides
and pesticides to your garden plants?
If you answered "yes" to any of the above, then the "Go
Native!" course from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2 through San Diego
State University's College of Extended Studies is for you!
Planting your garden with native plants (those indigenous to San
Diego County and Southern California), doesn't mean having a front
yard full of cacti, although cacti can be attractive. Planting natives
will help to reduce the amount of water you use, eliminate the use
of pesticides and herbicides, cut down on the use of soil amendments,
and best of all, you won't have to spend time mowing your lawn.
This class will cover the different types of native plants you
can use to create an attractive garden that will attract insects
and birds to create a balanced habitat.
Fee for the course is $58. For more information, call (619) 594-2517
or visit www.NeverStopLearning.net.
