Extended Studies Course Introduces Fundamentals
of Investing for Women
SAN DIEGO, Thursday, August 26, 2004 - Women need to take control
of their financial future. More than ever, women's paychecks are
supporting the family. They are living longer and they are their
parents' caregivers.
To help women in such situations, San Diego State University's
College of Extended Studies hosts a course titled "Women as
Independent Investors," Tuesdays, Sept. 9-30 from 6:30 to 8:45
p.m. at SDSU's Gateway Center, 5250 Campanile Drive.
This course introduces the fundamentals of investing for women.
Topics include investment terms, research tools, and implementing
a personal investment plan. The class covers IRAs, 401(k)s, mutual
funds, stocks, bonds, and annuities. It will also address personal
finance topics as they relate to women, including taxes, retirement,
insurance, education, estate planning, and the 11 roadblocks to
a woman's financial security.
