College Hosts Open House for People 50 Years
Old and Better
SAN DIEGO, Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - San Diego State University's
College of Extended Studies (CES) will host an open house for its
new Osher Lifelong Learning Institute for individuals 50 years of
age and better from 10 am-1 pm Saturday, Sept. 18 at the new Extended
Studies Center on the SDSU campus.
The event features refreshments, musical entertainment, free blood
glucose screening, body fat testing, and healthy home evaluation
(signing up for someone to come to an individual's home to evaluate
for lead, etc.)
Parking will be available in parking structure 2, adjacent to the
Extended Studies Center.

The Osher Foundation offers grants to universities to develop and
implement lifelong learning programs. Courses in the new CES program
include Religions of the World; What is Language?; Keys To Robust
Living; The Impolite Subjects: Sex, Religion, and Politics; How
to Win the Race With Time: Anti-aging Weapons; An Introduction to
Ancient Greek Myth and Drama; Disease and History; and Medieval
English Literature.
CES will utilize its grant in specialized courses where credit
is not given. No tests or papers are required in these courses.
SDSU's College of Extended Studies offers a wide variety of lifelong
learning classes, seminars, and certificate programs. Career advancement
courses are offered in many areas of management, leadership, and
quality improvement while self-enrichment courses range from astronomy
to web design. Additionally, the College offers over 30 certificate
programs, online courses, and many other learning opportunities.
