College Offers New Course on Introduction
to the Game Industry
SAN DIEGO, Thursday, August 12, 2004 - With the production of computer
games continuing to grow, San Diego State University's College of
Extended Studies will debut an online class on the Introduction
to the Game Industry, beginning Sept. 15.
This highly interactive course, taught by a leading game designer,
is an excellent primer on all topics surrounding the computer gaming
industry. Students will learn about game development, game design
and production, and the current challenges facing the game industry.
Class requirements include Internet access, email, and Netscape
or Internet Explorer Web browser.
The course is offered twice during the fall semester, from Sept.
15-Oct. 22 and Nov. 10-Dec. 17. Fee is $88. To register or for more

Instructor Tom Meigs, M.A., has worked as a game designer and producer
for the past 10 years for many leading electronic entertainment
developers, including THQ, The Walt Disney Company, and Sony Pictures
Digital Entertainment.
Introduction to the Game Industry is among several new noncredit
courses offered by SDSU's College of Extended Studies during the
fall semester.
Other new courses include Global Positioning System Navigation
for Pilots (Sept. 18), Creating Web Pages (online, Sept. 15-Oct.
22 and Nov. 10-Dec.17), Compositional Painting: The Human Figure
with Still Life (Sept. 16-Nov. 4), Speed Spanish Sept. 15-Oct. 22
and Nov. 10-Dec.17), Beginner's Guide to Getting Published (Sept.
15-Oct. 22 and Nov. 10-Dec.17), and You Can Write for Television
(Sept. 15-Oct. 22 and Nov. 10-Dec.17).
