Sales and Marketing Classes Include New Accelerated Certificate Program

SAN DIEGO, Wednesday, August 11, 2004 - To meet the needs of today's workforce, the College of Extended Studies at San Diego State University offers many types of certificate programs in marketing, advertising, public relations, media, and sales.

The new accelerated certificate program in Business Basics for Success teaches everything students need to know about how businesses plan for success. From the initial business model concept to the ultimate moneymaking sales proposal, it's a truly one-of-a-kind program that's a rewarding blend of tried and true traditional business basics and creative, cutting-edge brand-first strategies.

This program is highly recommended for business professionals, and junior and senior undergraduate business students. It is essentially a must for anyone who's already in business, starting a business, or about to enter the business arena.

To complete the certificate, you must take the accelerated course, which includes three courses in eight weeks: The Business Plan, The Business Brand: BRANDICAPPED?, and Business Presentation Skills and one of the two electives: The Marketing Plan, or The Business Sales Proposal.

Here's a brief description of the three core courses:

The Business Plan: This core course will make certain you have the knowledge to take your business from concept through to success. Key components for the class include: producing a business plan, business plan components, core values, business objectives, identifying the target market, strategic planning, risk assessment, recognizing competition, and industry analysis and trends.

The Business Brand: BRANDICAPPED?: This revolutionary new course declares that the single best way to communicate your business to your marketplace is through your brand. It turns traditional market planning upside down as it dares to break new ground in business communications. The class will produce a branding plan, define brand marketing, and learn about the components of a branding plan.

Business Presentation Skills: This course will help you become a confident public speaker and a polished presenter. Key components include: develop professional delivery techniques, define the purpose of your presentation, organize key objectives for a presentation, manage speech anxiety, and create and use visual aids.
