College Partners with Global Knowledge to Offer IT Credit Courses

SAN DIEGO, Wednesday, June 2, 2004 - Education is the key to success as you build up your resume to enter into technical employment.

San Diego State University's College of Extended Studies has an agreement with Global Knowledge, a worldwide leader in information technology education and training solutions, to offer credit courses in IT.

SDSU's computer science department has approved 45 Global Knowledge courses for credit. The university has also agreed to provide SDSU computer science students and faculty access to up to five online courses from Global Knowledge per semester, providing flexibility and choice to those students in developing their course curriculum. Through this agreement, some students may qualify for tuition reimbursement funding offered by individual companies.

The College of Extended Studies is excited about the partnership with Global Knowledge because it will help expand our offering of IT courses and allow students to earn credit for training courses. We know this will help the working adult because many employers will only provide tuition reimbursement for successfully completing credit classes.

When you take this training, you'll be earning valuable certification in addition to college credit. You also get to choose where, when, and how you want to learn:

  • In the classroom, you will be able to attend these courses in any of 30 locations across the United States.
  • In the virtual classroom, you'll take live sessions over the Internet, directly from your home or office.
  • Using self-paced e-Learning, you'll train via CD or the Web, whenever it's most convenient for you.

Courses available from Global Knowledge include Authorized Cisco® Curriculum, Authorized Foundstone Curriculum, Microsoft, Networking Foundation, Security, Telecommunications, UNIX, Web Development and Programming, and Wireless. Global Knowledge certifications recognized by the SDSU College Credit Certificate Program are CIW Associate, CompTIA I-Net+ Certification, T.I.C.S.A. Certified Security Associate, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), and CompTIA Network + Certification.

Global Knowledge provides a wide array of training and software support solutions for IT professionals worldwide. Through its Blended Learning SolutionsTM, the company empowers customers with choice, allowing them to determine when, where, and how corporations and individuals want their training programs designed and delivered.

SDSU's College of Extended Studies offers a wide variety of lifelong learning classes, seminars, and certificate programs. Career advancement courses are offered in many areas of management, leadership, and quality improvement while self-enrichment courses range from astronomy to web design. Additionally, the College offers over 30 certificate programs, online courses, and many other learning opportunities. For more information on the cutting-edge opportunities offered in the technical field, or other programs, visit the College's web site at www.NeverStopLearning.net.
