SAN DIEGO, Wednesday, May 12, 2004 - San Diego State University's College of Extended Studies is offering the Practical Academic Study Skills Program (PASS) for students entering high school or college desiring to learn how to achieve academic success. The PASS program will provide students with the study skills needed to succeed in the classroom and be better prepared for each education level.

The skills taught in the program include note taking and outlining, test-taking strategies, problem-solving, memorization techniques, listening skills, reading strategies, and time management. The curriculum for PASS has been developed and will be taught by SDSU faculty.

The program for students entering high school is held throughout the summer in a variety of locations. Scheduled dates and locations include: Steele Canyon High School, July 12-16 from 8-10 am; Grossmont High School, August 9-13 from 7:30-9:30 am; and SDSU's Gateway Center, August 16-20 from 8-10 am.

The PASS program for students entering college takes place at the SDSU Gateway Center from 10:30 am-12:30 pm August 16-20.

Cost for the weeklong course is $129, up until five days before each respective course's starting date. After those dates, the cost is $149.
